Multinational technology giant Cisco has been announced as event sponsor for ITWeb Security Summit 2019, to be held from 27 to 31 May at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Cisco is undoubtedly a leader in the security space, boasting an integrated, comprehensive portfolio of security technologies and services to provide advanced threat protection to businesses across the board, says Angela Mace, CRM and Events director at ITWeb.
"We are thrilled to have them on board. As the threat landscape continues to evolve rapidly, Cisco continues to invest in security technologies to protect data and systems, and is seen as one of the most innovative companies in the information security space. The company's vast knowledge and experience will be a tremendous value-add for the summit," she adds.
Tinus Janse van Rensburg, regional manager for Cisco Security Africa, says over the past five years, Cisco has invested over $7 billion in security technologies and specific solution to complement its offering and clients.
"We see ITWeb Security Summit as a great platform to showcase our capabilities and help clients resolve the complex challenges they need to deal with in regards to cyber security."
South Africa, Janse van Rensburg says, has a real problem when it comes to managing cyber security effectively. "This goes beyond not understanding the vendor landscape and the offering, but also as to how we support this effectively."
He says the lack of skilled resources has been a problem for almost 18 years in the cyber security market. "I see a lot of skilled workers leave client environments to join integrators, and also a lot of channel and or partners leave to join the vendor world. Cyber security challenges need to have one objective, and that is effectiveness. If we focus on that goal, the chance of improving cyber security is good."
According to him, it is well-known in the market that Cisco has a lot of "Cisco" specific events, partner events and summits, but he wanted to drive scale with new partners, reach out to more clients and focus on ensuring Cisco is more closely aligned with regional specific security efforts.
"We believe that delegates that attend ITWeb Security Summit 2019 will leave with a better understanding of market behaviour, and what really works well to resolves key problems. They will also see how security vendors are working closely together to be more effective."
