Danny Naidoo, CIO, Woolworths

Danny Naidoo is a seasoned business executive with more than 25 years' experience in the developed as well as emerging markets. Throughout his professional career, he has worked internationally and has held leadership roles in technology, financial services and retail industries. Currently, Danny is the CIO of Woolworths, one of the southern hemisphere's top food and clothing retailers.

Before this, he was the innovation director at Old Mutual Group. He has also founded and run businesses and has experience in mergers and acquisitions and disposals.

Danny has a keen interest in sustainable development of talent and the associated socio-economic impact, and has worked closely with NGOs and governments in Africa to further these objectives with consideration for the full ecosystem that is needed. In his current role with Woolworths, enterprise development, skills development and employment opportunities for new graduates are key focus areas.

Danny has a degree in electronic engineering from the University of Natal and has completed many leadership and management development programmes. With strong visionary and leadership capabilities that are rooted in his vast experience he is often invited by the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town to present on topics such as talent development, business strategy in Africa, innovation, innovation in emerging markets, reverse innovation and information technology management.
