A senior-level panel of well-respected and influential leaders from specified areas of expertise in business continuity management were handpicked to act as knowledge facilitators. They ensure the team delivers a well laid-out programme, which addresses the pressing business continuity issues affecting South African organisations and beyond on the African continent. Dr Clifford Ferguson

Dr Clifford Ferguson
director: Strategy and Policy, Government Pensions Administration Agency

Dr Clifford Ferguson is currently director of Strategy, Policy, BC and Management Information at the Government Pensions Administration Agency. In 2014, Ferguson received the SADC Award for Business Continuity in the Public Service, where after he was nominated for the global award in the same category. He is affiliated to the Government Research Forum (DPSA), COMENSA, BCi, PPK, Shalom and Unisa Alumni. Ferguson is currently busy with research about BCM maturity in the finance cluster of the South African government, and he is also writing a book: Beyond counselling: counselling is good but coaching is better.

Brian Henry

Brian Henry
MD, Caridon Business Solutions

Brian Henry is managing director of Caridon Business Solutions and has been involved in business since 1970, when his career began in the IT industry as programmer and systems analyst. His technology experience includes several years with technology vendors as support engineer and as a systems integration and solutions implementation consultant.
His business and systems consulting activities began in 1980 with Ernst & Whinney. Since then, he has served for a total of 14 years as a management consultant with the ‘big-four’ consulting houses, where he provided support to management on a wide range of business and systems issues. These included security, business continuity, risk and impact assessment, organisational restructuring and strategic planning.

Over the years, he has developed a thorough understanding of business systems and is passionate about developing and improving all aspects of business management and process with interventions and solutions that are effective, sustainable and measurable.

He is the founder of Caridon Business Solutions, a company specialising in business and systems consulting, business continuity, and knowledge management.

Henry has led projects with major corporations that included IT solutions implementations, organisational development, and the implementation of contract risk management and business continuity solutions. He is recognised globally as a subject matter expert in these two disciplines.

He holds a BSc degree from the University of Cape Town and diploma in business management.
He currently serves as the SADC Chapter chair for the BCI in South Africa.

Louise Theunissen

Louise Theunissen

Louise Theunissen, FBCI (fellow of the Business Continuity Institute) has, since 2001, gained extensive experience in a wide range of industries across Africa. Theunissen has been involved in all aspects of IT governance, resiliency, including business continuity management (BCM) and disaster recovery (DR), and the project management thereof. Besides her FBCI, Theunissen holds a PMP (project management professional) and ISO22301 lead implementer accreditation.

Theunissen was the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) area representative for southern Africa in 2009. At the end of 2009, she was elected as a member of the BCI Board, serving a three-year term starting in 2010. In 2010, Theunissen was elected as a member of the BCI Global Membership Council, serving a two-year term. She currently plays a strategic role in the establishment of the BCI SADC Chapter and a number of other BCI SADC Chapter initiatives, ie, the inaugural and second BCI Africa Awards Event, and she is currently an elected member of the BCI SADC Chapter Board.
In 2013, Theunissen received the award for ‘Consultant of the Year’ at the BCI Africa Awards, and in the same year, she received a global BCI ‘Achievement Award’.

Theunissen has presented at various conferences and has produced several articles over the last 10 years. In addition, she provided content towards: The Definitive Handbook of Business Continuity Management 3rd Edition, written by Andrew Miles.
Theunissen is currently a manager within the Deloitte Risk Advisory Division.
