Sean O’Connell

Sean O’Connell started Airborne Consulting in 2004 with Brian Harding. Airborne is now a leading supplier of custom development solutions and high-end IT consulting in the Western Cape, with approximately 90 employees. Airborne is a world-class solutions company providing custom software to a number of multinational companies, and is the supplier of choice for critical custom business solutions to most of the large Cape-based companies across the financial services, health, banking and education sectors. O’Connell has made available to the Cape a level of quality consulting and solutions at very competitive rates that were only previously available through very high-end consulting services from international consulting houses.

He has built his company with a small management team and a personal hands-on approach that inspires and motivates everyone he works with or does business with. With O’Connell, everyone gets a say and everyone's input is valued. At the same time, he makes up his mind quickly, has an incredible ability to articulate his vision, and, with the buy-in, moves forward at an incredible pace. His fairness, energy and enthusiasm, combined with deep industry experience and wisdom, make him an incredible leader.

Under O’Connell’s guidance, Airborne has contributed enormously to social responsibility endeavours, including sharing the costs of building and running a nationally distributed healthcare system for the Hospice Palliative Care Association, and is currently in planning phase, and sharing the costs, for the building of a Poisons Database for the Red Cross Children’s Fund, which will be distributed to healthcare organisations across sub-Saharan Africa.
