Wayne Biehn

Wayne Biehn is regional manager, Africa (WECA) at VMware. As such, he is responsible for all aspects of VMware’s sales operations, regional initiatives and business development across West, East, Central (WECA) and Southern Africa.

With over 20 years’ experience in successfully managing and driving sales and product management teams, Wayne joined VMware in mid-2010 from an IT security and governance, risk and compliance background to head up VMware’s new strategic direction in the region. Since joining VMware, he has been in charge of building a dedicated team to develop the company’s sales and channel footprint across the West, East, Central and Southern Africa regions.

Today his role combines the development, growth, and management of VMware business efforts and sales actions across a theatre of 30 countries on the continent outside of SA. This includes the oversight and development of go-to-market vehicles, the territory ecosystems and the channel, as well as their ongoing support and development capabilities, and the general business management of the territory across all business objectives.


James Campbell

James Campbell is currently the server platform lead, responsible for the virtualisation, servers, storage and backup strategies at leading global financial services firm Investec. James has worked in the IT industry for more than 15 years, starting his career in the trenches of Nedbank as a desktop and network support engineer.

At Nedbank, his role evolved into the team lead for the executive desktop support team, after which he then moved into the server support team. James joined Investec in 2004, where he started as a server administrator and moved into the role of team lead over a small team working on the company’s server and virtualisation stratagems. Today his team has grown in strength and numbers, and he is now responsible for the strategies of both disciplines, the management of the team, and the support of the infrastructure. He also consults to the global organisation on future-based technology and thought leadership strategies where needed.

With his experience in server virtualisation, IT systems and the financial services industry, James boasts a range of skills that include financial planning and budgeting for, and understanding of cost efficiencies through technology selection and implementation, which also extends to ROI and analysis. He is currently involved in mentoring his teams within Investec, managing the technology stack, working with global vendors, and has a keen eye for IT architecture planning and implementation.


Stafford Masie

Stafford has been in the IT industry for more than 18 years and has assumed numerous roles throughout his career. After completing his tertiary computer science studies in Israel in the early 90's, he returned to SA and worked for Telkom and Dimension Data.

He spent over seven years in the USA where he played a significant role in the open source software arena. He has been responsible for global partnerships and corporate technology strategy for numerous international territories including Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela), the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Europe.

Stafford was country manager for Novell South Africa and developed and launched Google South Africa. A self-confessed serial entrepreneur and internationally recognised business strategy consultant, he is involved in several leading-edge technology start-ups. He flys microlights and single prop aircraft, and enjoys scuba diving and snow skiing when time allows.


Matt Piercy

Matt Piercy is vice president for VMware’s Northern Region, EMEA. In this role, Matt is responsible for driving business growth, and supporting sales, marketing and channel operations across the UK, Ireland, Benelux, Nordics and South Africa.

Matt has more than 20 years’ experience in the IT industry, specifically within the software development and storage industry, having previously held positions at Citrix Systems and Transitional Technology.

Since joining VMware in 2005, he has held a number of senior roles within VMware, most recently as senior director of OEM Alliances for EMEA. In this role Matt’s responsibilities included helping establish a 90-strong team responsible for developing and implementing channel programmes, aimed at broadening and deepening virtualization adoption among businesses.

Prior to joining VMware, Matt was general manager for the UK and Ireland at F-Secure, a software security company. In this role, he was responsible for restructuring the company’s UK business and launching a number of new initiatives including a security programme for ISPs, which gained more than 500 000 subscribers.
